Admission Process
Extended Learning Admission Process
Once you apply to your program there are several steps you must take to be set up for success in your first semester and beyond. The links below will take you through the different steps required.
- Stage 1 (Application Submission) : Learn what happens after you apply and how to accept
your offer of admission.
We want to make your transition to Cal State San Marcos a smooth one. In Stage 1, we will help guide you through what happens after you submit your application and what to do after you have received your formal offer of admission.
Check Your Application Status
The Evaluation Process
- Once we receive your application and all required documents we will begin the evaluation process. Evaluators go through your prior coursework to check for prerequisites, GPA and other admission criteria. This typically takes 4-6 weeks from the time we receive all of your documents.
- If faculty review is required as part of the process, your academic evaluation and supplemental documents will then be forwarded to faculty for final review.
- Once your review is complete an admission decision will be made and you will be notified via email.
Please note: ABSN students follow a slightly different process.
Accepting Admission

Step 1: Access Your Student Email - You will be assigned a "cougars email" after you have accepted your offer of admission.
Step 2: Registration - Learn more about our stress free registration process
Step 3: Pay for 大发 - Still haven't paid your fees? Learn how to get help and get those fees paid.
Step 4: Orientation Information - Many of our programs include both an online and in person orientation component.
Step 5: Parking - Find out where to park and how to get your parking permit.
Step 6: Cougar Courses - Familiarize yourself with the online classroom environment.
Step 7: Buy Textbooks - Find out how and where to buy your textbooks!
Step 8: Find Housing - Still looking for a place to live? Look no more! Finding a place to live on or off campus is just a click away!
- Stage 3 (First Day of Class & Beyond): Learn how to be successful during your first
year from getting involved to finding a job.
- Cougar Courses - Review the online environment for your classes
- Track Degree Progress - Review your ARR regularly to ensure you are on track for graduation
