Open University
An open door to your success!
Open University is a CSU system-wide program that allows anyone, on a space-available-basis, to take undergraduate and graduate classes without being formally admitted to California State University San Marcos. The program is available fall, summer, and spring semesters. Registration is easy and fees are the same regardless of whether you are a California resident, out-of-state resident, or an international visitor. Credits earned through Open University may be applied to degree work and transferred to other universities and colleges.
Taking courses through Open University allows you to:

Enroll in classes if you've missed the 大发 application deadline

Examine a field of study before enrolling in a degree program

Update your skills

Attend classes on a non-continuous basis

Raise your grade point average (GPA) prior to application

Pursue personal intellectual interests in any field

Increase or update competencies in work-related fields
Who can take Open University classes?

Members of the general public
- Students under 18 years of age, must complete the "Release of Liability" form under , once enrolled in a University class.

Academic Disqualification
- Students who have been disqualified, either academically or administratively, may not enroll in any regular campus session (e.g., open university) without permission from the Office of Registration and Records and may be denied admission to other educational programs operated or sponsored by the University.
Note: Regularly admitted (matriculated) students are NOT permitted to take classes through Open University.
