Applications to the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology program are reviewed on a rolling basis; apply at any time! However, priority is given to applications that are received by the following deadlines:

  • Spring 2026: Aug. 6, 2025

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the online BA in Sociology program you must complete the requirements listed below. 

  • General Requirements
    • 60 transferable semester college units (or 90 quarter units) to be eligible for admission, including the prerequisite courses below.
    • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in all transferable units attempted
    • 2.5 GPA for students who have already completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree
    • Must reside in an approved state 
  • Prerequisites
    • Successful completion of the following courses with a 鈥淐-鈥 or better (12 units)
        • Oral Communication (A1)
        • Written Communication (A2)
        • Critical Thinking (A3)
        • Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning (B4)
    • Completion of SOC 101 and 201

Please note: Students who start programs during the summer term are ineligible to receive funding through Cal Grant.
