Attending the National Student Nurses Association annual convention in Orlando, Florida was a very fulfilling experience that deeply enriched both my academic and personal development. This was provided to me through the exhibition hall, breakout sessions, NCLEX practice sessions, and networking. In the exhibition hall, I was able to network with different exhibitors who represented different health systems, study materials, and other universities. Through these interactions, I was able to interact with potential future employers who are looking to hire new graduate nurses. Before attending the conference, I had not considered leaving the state after graduation. After talking to the exhibitors, I am more open and realize that it is an opportunity available to me that I could pursue. The study materials available there helped me understand what materials there are available to me and which ones would be the most useful when I graduate and prepare to take the NCLEX and gain my licensure. Other schools were there advertising their opportunities for graduate education, another pathway I did not consider before attending the conference.
Attending the 2024 American Association of Immunologists (AAI) conference has been an extremely positive experience for me personally and academically. During this conference, I was able to learn about research being conducted by scientists across the country. Furthermore, I was able to identify areas of research that I would love to look into more in the future. Specifically looking into how microbial gut populations impact immune responses. I look forward to a future career where I can ask questions and research this. Personally, I was able to make connections with professionals across fields that I am interested in. I was able to connect with an anesthesiologist and reconstructive surgeon and get advice on my future from them. I was also able to meet researchers and ask them questions about their career path and their research topics. These experiences have left me excited for my future career goals of pursuing medical school and eventually a career as a surgeon.
Attending the Nigerian Student Coalition Conference was a fun and insightful event
to go
to. This conference is done every year and last year I went but was not able to get
the full experience because of the cost. Thankfully this year I had enough funding
to be able to get the full experience. NSCC is something that I glad exists for African
students who attend PWI/HSI. In my time at the conference I was able to bond with
my e-board of the African Student Association, connect with my friends outside of
大发, meet new members of each school's club e-board, listen to very insightful speakers,
attend culture shows, try some ethnic food, witness and learn about other African cultures outside
of my own, etc. Because of this conference, our board was able to connect more with UCSD's
NSA and SDSU's ASA. We got invited to attend UCSD's culture show happen in May and told that they would love to collaborate on an event with in the future like we
did for Afrofest that happened in the beginning of April at SDSU.
The Western Psychological Conference was a great opportunity for professional and personal growth. While there I had the opportunity to connect with my colleagues and others in my field. During this conference, I expanded my knowledge through attending talks and poster presentations. Additionally, I presented a poster on my thesis project. During this, I strengthened my communication and presenting skills, and received great feedback and ideas about analyzing my data, along with future research projects. Moving forward, I have more confidence in my presenting skills. I will also be able to add this presentation to my resume to aide me in future employment and education opportunities.
In April, I had the opportunity to attend the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Championships, also known as the NCVF 2024 Nationals for men鈥檚 volleyball and women鈥檚 volleyball. It was an amazing experience, and I believe that it has enriched my student experience and personal growth
I recently had the opportunity to atend the 71st Regional Conference at Sigma Gamma Rho. I was able to atend in person and meet undergraduate members from all over the western region. I really appreciate having the opportunity to connect with members at various levels of membership and levels of influence in the sorority. I partcipated in informatonal sessions and workshops geared towards the undergraduate atendees, primarily focused on ensuring we had a firm understanding of how business meetngs with nearly 300 voters operated. As a delegate I was actvely involved in the votng process.
My research during my master's degree focuses on solving a mathematical application (wave equations) using a novel method. When I got some progress, besides trying for publication, I would also have liked to have a presentation in a mathematical conference or meeting. To this end, JMM2023 was a good opportunity to present my work. In fact, JMM is the largest mathematics conference in the world that took place in Boston this year. Over 5000 people came to JMM2023. There was lots of room to learn, network, socialize, recruit, exhibit, and share any mathematics experience.
Attending the Western Psychological Association Conference was a transformative experience that broadened my horizons, deepened my understanding of the field, and enriched my personal growth. As an aspiring psychologist, I eagerly embraced the opportunity to immerse myself in a vibrant community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners. The conference provided a platform for learning, networking, and engaging in stimulating discussions that left an indelible impact on my academic and professional journey.
This past week my lacrosse team and I had the opportunity to fly across the country to Virginia Beach to play in a national tournament. A few of the girls and I had the privilege of going to Texas last year for the same tournament, placing 11th in the nation. This season we stepped up our training and preparation knowing we had a good chance of going to nationals again. Throughout the season we practiced 8-9 hours a week, individually ran/ trained, and fundraised enough money to get us to our potential bid to Virginia Beach. At the Women鈥檚 Western lacrosse league playoffs, division 1 and 2 teams from Nevada, Arizona, Utah and California came to UCSD to participate in a fight to secure their spot to nationals. As a team, we played our hearts out and came out on top! We not only won 1st place for our entire western league, but received an official bid for Virginia Beach Nationals. Between playoffs and nationals, we trained, practiced, and bonded as a team
