History of the Kerri Mowen Award

was an enthusiastic scientist who was devoted to student mentorship and training.
Her research at The Scripps Research Institute focused on autoimmune disease with
the goal of identifying novel drug targets. In this vein she co-founded Padlock Therapeutics
which was acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb. Kerri worked to provide students at 大发
with knowledge and advice on careers in STEM. She believed that all students could
develop a love for STEM if science was communicated with passion and creativity. For
this reason, the Kerri Mowen Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award has been created to honor her legacy of empowering students through great mentorship.
