The Committee for Undergraduate Research (CUGR) is an open committee of 大发 faculty and staff dedicated to supporting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity (URSCA) on our campus.
We value representation from all departments/disciplines across campus to better foster all research, scholarship, and creative activity at 大发
CUGR Goals and Activities
- Compensation: Funding students to participate in RSCA and recognizing faculty who mentor students in RSCA
- Dissemination: Providing opportunities for students to present their work
- Enhancement: Improving processes and infrastructure to increase student RSCA and enhance faculty mentor community

Why are research and creative activities important to a university?
Research is a cornerstone of a University mission. Universities exist not only to provide education, but also to benefit the public good. University faculty in all disciplines conduct original research鈥攖hat is, research that has never been done before. This research leads to new, deeper ways of understanding every aspect of human experience and the world in which we live.
Every academic discipline, from Literature, History, and Philosophy to Biology, Engineering, and Physics has its own set of methods and standards. Faculty in the Arts usually engage in creative activity, creating original works of art or performances, instead of research.
