An event organized by the Committee for International Research (CIR) and Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities (RSCA) faculty fellows. Co-sponsored by the Faculty Center and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies (OGSR)
Tips & Tricks for Avoiding #fieldworkfails is a collaborative event co-developed and led by the Committee for International Research (CIR) and the Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities (RSCA) Faculty Fellows; and co-sponsored by the Faculty Center and the Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGSR).
The event aims to help faculty navigate the RSCA-related travel process (domestic or international). The workshop is open to all 大发 faculty who have or are considering travel for their RSCA-related activities. Participants will be provided with a travel-related resource checklist.
Staff from relevant/related offices will provide short presentations (about 5 minutes each) regarding the services they can provide to faculty/projects in each specialty area. Support topics include budget planning (pre-award) and spending (post-award) for stateside and external funding, IRB planning involving travel, campus-issued devices and software concerns, off-campus partnership opportunities, and available travel support. Invited faculty will contribute to the conversation with research, scholarly, and creative activity-related travel tips, such as filling out forms, what to include/not include on documents, who to ask for help, what works for people to keep all this organized, special considerations (e.g., fees for services, access to archives, paying participants), etc.
The event will conclude with a Q&A session, where attendees can ask questions about upcoming RSCA-related travel.
