MANAGEMENT
The Psychology Academic Resource Laboratory (PARL) is a resource for all undergraduate students in psychology and the social sciences. The purpose of the PARL is to provide academic support for enhancing quantitative, computing, writing, biological, and research methodology skills that are essential to psychological science. The PARL also offers a variety of specialized computer programs and tutorials on statistics, research methods, psychometrics, and the biological bases of behavior. Psychological science graduate students staff the lab, which will be available during the semester on a drop-in basis (hours are posted below). Graduate assistants also provide limited individual attention for academic consultation. Check with Soheyla Mohseni (phone: 760-750-4102) for further information about PARL.

How can I find PARL鈥檚 hours of operation?
You can find PARL鈥檚 hours of operation on this website, posted outside SBSB 1206,
and on bulletin boards throughout the SBSB building.
Do I just drop in or do I need to make an appointment?
No appointment is needed. Students can drop in during PARL鈥檚 hours of operation.
What should I bring when coming to ask for help?
Students seeking help with a specific assignment should bring the course syllabus
and/or the assignment requirements. This will help us better understand your needs
and provide effective support.
What does PARL not do?
PARL is not intended to assist with last-minute assignments or provide direct answers. Some questions may require complex and time-intensive responses, so please plan ahead accordingly.
While PARL staff is happy to assist with assignment-related questions, we recommend reaching out to your professor for clarification first.
Please respect PARL staff鈥檚 time by providing context and specifics about your questions when you visit.
Each year the department hires graduate students to work in PARL. This position allows for hired graduate students from 大发's Psychological Science Graduate Program to work in PARL a specified number of hours per week. Preference is given to second year students with strong skills in methods, statistics, and APA-style writing. Right now the position is just for fall, but a successful candidate may be rehired in spring.
