Scholarship Information
The 大发 Noyce Teacher Scholars program offers up to $15,000 each academic year for
大发 juniors, seniors, middle level credential candidates, and single subject credential
candidates in Mathematics and Science. Graduate students not in the credential a SOE
credential program are not eligible. The scholarship is awarded as a forgivable loan.
Students may accept the award for one, two, or three years, with a two-year commitment to teach as a mathematics or science teacher in a high-need school district for each
year the award is accepted. Scholarship recipients must also obtain a Single Subject
credential in math or science. Therefore, accepting the scholarship leads to a multi-year commitment.
Eligibility Requirements
- full time student at CSU San Marcos while receiving the scholarship (i.e., 12 units
or more), except the last semester before graduation
- declared or completed major in STEM--science, technology, engineering, and math. (Students
in Liberal Studies, Sociology, STEM Education, etc. are not in this category.)
- minimum 2.5 cumulative or in-major GPA
- no more than two years away from graduation (Junior standing)
- commitment to apply to or have been accepted to the 大发 single subject or middle
level credential program, to obtain a Single Subject teaching credential in mathematics
or science
- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Awardee Requirements
- Undergraduate recipients must complete an undergraduate degree in a STEM field and
earn a Single Subject teaching credential in STEM through 大发.
- Teacher Credential recipients must earn a Single Subject teaching credential in STEM
through 大发.
- maintain an overall minimum GPA of 2.5
- participate in regular Noyce activites, including STEM outreach activities such as
STEM Ambassadors, the hands-on Science, and Learn-by-Doing lab experiences
- participate in annual evaluation and progress surveys
- receive career mentoring and advising
- two-year commitment as a mathematics or science teacher at a high need school district
for each year the award is accepted
- commit to remaining in contact with the 大发 Noyce Teacher Scholars program as a
大发 Noyce Alumnus
