Craft Brewers Index

The Index has been developed by the Cal State University San Marcos College of Business Administration and the San Diego Business Journal over the past four years, being adjusted and reexamined semiannually. The index is calculated from specific survey responses to questions focused on craft brewing operations and opportunities in San Diego County;distributed to local craft breweries in San Diego County, the most recent survey received 34 brewer responses, and the results are as follows.

Craft Industry Confidence Index

The confidence index result is 90.68 for Spring 2021. Above 50 indicates optimism, while below 50 indicates a lack of confidence.  The graph indicates a steep increase in optimism from 63.05 in Fall 2020.

85.29% said their number of employees would increase in the next 6 months.

revenues projections

94.12% said their revenues would increase in the next 6 months.

Profit projections

82.35% said their profits would increase in the next 6 months.

return to normal optimism

35.39% anticipate business will return to pre-pandemic levels in 6-12 months or 1-2 years.
