CEHHS Strategic Plan

Mission Statement

The mission of the College of Education, Health and Human Services (CEHHS) is to prepare highly skilled and ethical professionals to meet the needs of our regional, national, and global communities. We promote student-centered learning and a commitment to academic and inclusive excellence.

Vision Statement

CEHHS strives to be responsive to the needs of our community by advancing innovative, evidence-based, socially just, reflective practices in the fields of education, health, and human services.

Goals

• Goal One: Authentic Learning and Student Success

  We will focus on student-centered, research-based teaching and learning that advances professional knowledge and skills for all students.

  • 1.1 Provide instruction using state-of-the-art/science classroom technology.
  • 1.2 Ensure all student have access to high quality, high-impact experiences.
  • 1.3 Identify and remove barriers to student success and graduation.
  • 1.4 Support students in their post-graduation career goals and aspirations.
• Goal Two: Collaborative and Supportive Work Environments

  We will partner with one another to sustain work conditions that promote physical and mental wellness among CEHHS employees.

  • 2.1 Implement opportunities for our college community to socialize with one another.
  • 2.2 Improve staff and faculty retention rates.
  • 2.3 Create avenues for staff to bring, express, and address their unique needs and challenges.
  • 2.4 Host an annual college-wide, administrative-lead feedback session regarding the needs of the college faculty and staff. 
• Goal Three: Professional Advancement, Innovation, and Scholarly Work

  We will support professional development opportunities and faculty research activities to forward the mission of CEHHS and the University - positioning discovery, creative thinking, generation of new knowledge, and intellectual excellence. 

  • 3.1 Support staff and faculty professional development.
  • 3.2 Share successes and increase internal and external grant funding.
  • 3.3 Share successes and increase faculty and student-led publications and presentations.
• Goal Four: Holistic Approach to Equity and Inclusive Engagement

  We will identify complex cultural, social, emotional, and political barriers and create intentional strategies that foster a sense of belonging to support and overcome challenges facing historically underrepresented and marginalized groups.

  • 4.1 Establish regular college-wide opportunities to share and celebrate the diverse life experiences of our students, faculty, and staff.
  • 4.2 Grow and diversify faculty and student applicant pools through proactive outreach and recruitment.
  • 4.3 Identify and mitigate barriers that impede success and retention of faculty, staff, and students from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups. 
• Goal Five: Commitment to Proactive Community Support and Engagement

  We will partner with our surrounding community to solve complex social issues and support the region's workforce needs.

  • 5.1 Convene regular town hall meetings with community constituents to identify social challenges facing our community.
  • 5.2 Foster college-wide advisory network to seek community input on degree programs and community workforce needs.
  • 5.3 Be a leader in the development of professional, doctorate, and workforce-aligned degree programs.
  • 5.4 Remove barriers for the community to learn and engage with our faculty's research expertise.
