MANAGEMENT
We offer the Master of Arts in Sociological Practice program in both full-time (two-year) and part-time (three-year) options. We call ourselves 鈥淪ociological Practice鈥 because we encourage our graduate students to take real life social problems as the focus of their research. Our program encourages community and civic engagement through research. Most faculty members contribute to and draw upon scholarship in critical sociology. Our classes all take place after 5 p.m. and usually are in person. However, during health pandemics and other emergency situations, classes will be fully online.
Our graduate students go on to work with social services and criminal justice agencies, non-profit or community groups, and evaluation companies. Many of our graduates go on to teach at community colleges and several have successfully entered Ph.D. programs. The MASP program is not a social work program (MSW).
We encourage you to visit our website for more information and to explore our .
The strengths of our department are close mentoring and a culturally diverse faculty. We are committed to applying critical theories that further needed social change in the tradition of public sociology.
