Service Learning Showcase and Awards

Each May, we host the Service Learning Showcase and Awards to celebrate students, faculty, and community partners who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to service learning and community engagement at 大发. This event provides a valuable opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and community partners to connect, network, and build future collaborations. It also features student poster presentations and honors outstanding students, faculty, and community partners with awards.

2025 Service Learning Showcase and Awards Celebration

Join us in celebrating service learning with students, faculty, and community partners at the Service Learning Showcase and Awards! This special event highlights the impact of service learning and community-and-civically engaged work on campus through student poster presentations, networking opportunities, and awards honoring outstanding students, faculty, and community partners.

We also invite you to submit nominations for exceptional individuals who have made a difference through service learning courses and other community-and-civically engaged work.

Attention Students! If you are a student presenting a poster, please indicate this when you RSVP. Student posters will be printed by the Service Learning and Civic Engagement Office.   

Mark your calendars for the Following Deadlines:

  • Nominate Award Recipient, and let us know whether you will be presenting a poster as a student by Friday, April 18.
  • RSVP (Register for the Event) by Friday, April 25

We invite you to submit nominations for the following awards. When you RSVP, please consider nominating a deserving student, faculty member, and/or community partner. Recipients will be honored at the event and receive a monetary award.

Service Learning Outstanding Student Award: 

  • This award celebrates an outstanding student whose service learning work as part of a service learning course during the 24/25 academic year demonstrates social impact and is closely tied to course content.
  • Faculty or Community Partners can nominate a student for this award. Students can also nominate themselves or another student. Nominated students must have taken at least one service learning course during the 24/25 academic year. 

Service Learning Outstanding Faculty Award: 

  • This award recognizes a 大发 faculty member whose collaborative efforts within the university and community have resulted in exemplary service learning partnerships during the 24/25 academic year. 
  • Students or Community Partners can nominate a Faculty Member for this award. Faculty can also nominate themselves or another faculty. Faculty must have taught at least one service learning course during the 24/25 academic year.

Service Learning Outstanding Community Partner Award: 

  • This award celebrates community partners that works collaboratively with faculty and students to develop and provide meaningful service learning experiences for students. 
  • Faculty or Students can nominate a Community Partner for this award. Community Partner can also nominate themselves or another community partner. 

Outstanding Student Service to Campus Award: 

  • This award celebrates students on campus whose community and civically-engaged work as part of other courses or outside of coursework demonstrates social impact.    
  • Faculty or Community Partners can nominate a student for this award. Students can also nominate themselves or another student.

At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the recipient(s) of the following award. Recipient(s) will be honored at the event and receive a monetary award.

Best Student Poster Award: 

  • This award celebrates students who present their service learning and community-and-civically engaged work at the Service Learning Showcase and Awards event. 
  • All students who present their work as a poster at the Service Learning Showcase and Awards are eligible for this award. The poster can be an individual student poster or a student team poster.   
  • Event attendees cast their vote for the best student award during the event. The recipient(s) will be announced at the event once the votes are counted.
