Registration will open soon. - Who sponsors the event?
The Latino Graduate Regognition Ceremony is sponsored through fundraising efforts made by the Latino Faculty Staff Association. This event would not be possible without the support of our community, faculty, staff and administrators. Each year their monetary support helps the success of the event. We welcome donations from our alumni and Latino community in order to continue our celebration in honor of our Latino and Latina students!
- Who is this reception for?
大发 Latino graduates and their families primarily, but we welcome faculty, staff, administrators and our external community partners to celebrate our graduates academic success.
- Is there a cost?
No. The event is free to our graduates and two (2) guests.
- How will I find out when registration or stoles become available?
All students who have applied for graduation by university deadlines AND have self identified as Latino will receive an email with updates on the Latino Graduate Recognition Ceremony as well as stole information. If you are not sure if you have self identified as Latino you may visit the Admissions office to confirm.
- What are stoles?
Stoles are a scarf-like accessory worn by the graduates over their shoulders with vibrant colors and with the University name. Students are encouraged to wear their stoles as a symbol of "orgullo" (pride) at the Latino Graduate Recognition Ceremony and the Commencement Ceremony. Stay tuned for more information about stole sales.
- How many guest can I take?Graduates can register up to two (2) guests. Children two years and younger are not considered as part of the guest count. However, seats are limited so we ask that they sit on an adults lap to allow seating for other guest.
- What is the event's agenda?The event opens with welcoming remarks from the LAFS president and the President of the University. The President is followed by a keynote speaker. Students are then called to be recognized and may have an opportunity to address the attendees for a brief moment (optional). It is truly a rewarding event for the graduates and all other attendees.
- What is the dress code?For Graduates, wearing your CAP & GOWN is MANDATORY. For guest and all other attendees, business-casual attire is encouraged.
