Academic Recovery
What is Academic Recovery?
Academic recovery is the process in which college students who are on academic notice and at risk of dismissal (disqualification) from 大发 are offered support and resources to guide them towards good academic standing.
What is Academic Standing?
All 大发 students in degree programs are assigned an academic standing at the end of each fall and spring semester. They include: Good, Academic Notice, and Academic Disqualification.
Standing is assigned based on your cumulative GPAs (resident GPA and overall GPA, including transfer credit), as well as the total number of units earned. You can read more information on the University Registrar page.
Why am I on Academic Notice?
You are on academic notice if your 大发 or Cumulative GPA falls below a 2.0. Students end up on academic notice for a variety of reasons.
Some of these challenges are listed below:
- Time-Management/Priority Setting
- Not Attending Classes
- Family Problems and/or Grief
- Not asking for help (e.g. emotionally, financially, academically)
- Study Time & Skills (test-taking, tutoring, note-taking, reading, etc.)
- Lack of motivation
- Unsure of major/career path
- Job-related challenges
- Mental Health/ Medical Challenges
- Housing/Food Insecurity
