Welcome to the Women and Gender Equity Center! Our center was originally founded in 2006 as the ASI Women's Center. In 2013, we became the Gender Equity Center. As we strive to ensure that our efforts in the center are aligned with the evolving needs of our campus, we recently engaged in a forward-thinking exercise and consultative process to imagine its future. Since June 2022, we are the Women and Gender Equity Center, or WGEC! This name change reflects the hopes, dreams, and goals shared by our campus community as the center strives to meet the evolving needs of our students.
While our name is changing, our commitment to inclusion is not. Student and professional staff at the center have been working hard since our space's founding to facilitate educational, fun, and inclusive programming. Our team will continue to maintain a brave space welcome to all students on campus. Our programs will continue to focus on issues pertaining to Women, Trans & Gender Nonconforming Communities, and Parenting Students. All students, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin, are welcome at the Women and Gender Equity Center, and we look forward to connecting with you.
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive space that fosters student success, belonging, and equity for all.
We recognize that individuals across our campus have unique and diverse experiences and challenges based on a variety of factors, including their race, age, class, gender, sexuality, dis/ability, etc.
We strive to create an environment where all students feel supported and valued. The WGEC is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive space for all students, including those of diverse gender identities and expressions!
