The Hybrid MS in Speech-Language Pathology program will prepare students for practice
in the field of speech-language pathology. The hybrid program is an accelerated part-time
to full-time program that requires both live and online training components. The live
components will take place at the 大发 San Marcos campus and in clinical sites in
San Diego County.

Program Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of the program, the Graduate students will be able to:
- Describe the nature of typical and disordered communication and swallowing across
the lifespan.
- Integrate theory, research, and evidence-based principles into prevention, assessment,
and intervention practices.
- Interact and communicate in ways that promote wellness and reflect respect for diversity,
collaboration, and ethics.
- Demonstrate summative knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level practice within
the field of speech-language pathology through defense of a culminating experience.
Program At A Glance

- Hybrid accelerated part-time program designed to be completed in 8 consecutive semesters
(including summer terms). View the current Hybrid part-time program course sequence.
- The program design requires students to:
- Complete asynchronous coursework and assignments designed by instructors
- Attend synchronous online evening classes two to three nights per week
- Attend live weekend learning labs (Saturday and Sunday) twice per semester at the
大发 San Marcos campus
- Complete four (4) live clinical placements in the San Diego County region which will
take place during typical work hours/days as follows: 5 weeks in Summer I, 5 weeks
in Summer II, and 14-16 weeks in Fall III and Spring III.
- Applicants/Students should be aware that the program is accelerated, and that asynchronous
coursework will need to be completed outside of the evening and weekend classes. While
it is designed for working adults, strong consideration must be given to how many
hours of external employment are feasible to ensure successful completion of the academic
and clinical components of the program.
- Program prepares students in prevention, assessment, and treatment of communication
and swallowing disorders across the lifespan for career readiness across multiple
settings
- Program offers specialty clinics to maximize student exposure to speech-language pathology
- Includes a minimum of 400 supervised hours in speech-language pathology in community based practice to prepare participants
for their career
- After successfully completing the program, the candidate will have met the academic requirements to be eligible for a temporary California state SLP license and a preliminary CTC
SLP Services credential. Candidates will also have met the academic requirements towards
ASHA membership and certification.
