Which automobile insurance policy is primary in a vehicle accident that occurs while driving on University business?
Driving a personal vehicle
- Your personal insurance policy is the primary policy
- The state insurance policy is secondary
- You can to request reimbursement from the CSU for out of pocket expenses related to the accident
Driving a state owned vehicle
- The institutional insurance policy is primary
Driving a rental car
- If rented under a state contract, the rental car agency insurance is primary
- If you do NOT rent under a state contract, you are responsible for liability insurance (either personal or non-reimbursable purchased insurance)
