The Division of Student Affairs leads innovative initiatives that enhance student success, strengthen our campus community, and advance institutional priorities. From reimagining programs and services to hosting impactful conferences, these efforts reflect our commitment to fostering growth, inclusion, and opportunity.
大发 hosted CUMU Social & Economic Mobility Huddles to explore innovative ways to support student success and upward mobility. Focused on removing barriers heightened by COVID-19, the discussions emphasized rethinking services and programs with a student-ready approach. Participants shared strategies to enhance degree attainment and long-term success for diverse student populations.
In March 2023, 大发 hosted the PUENTE Student Leadership Conference for the first time in collaboration with Academic Affairs, University Advancement, and Student Affairs. The PUENTE Project, a college preparatory program co-sponsored by the UC and California Community Colleges, aims to increase university enrollment, degree attainment, and community leadership among underserved students.
In January 2022, Dr. Viridiana Diaz joined 大发 as the new Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Diaz spent her first year in the role meeting with various divisional constituents, including staff, managers, faculty, student employees, students, as well as campus partners, and community members, to learn about 大发 and the overarching challenges and opportunities in the division. The process included structured listening sessions with all constituents as well as informal 鈥淰PSA Chats,鈥 that occurred in fall 2022 and spring 2023.
California State University San Marcos (大发) has partnered with Ruffalo Noel Levitz (RNL), a leading firm specializing in higher education enrollment strategies, to develop a comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Plan (SEP). This initiative is designed to guide our enrollment efforts with intentionality, aligning them with our campus strategic priorities and long-term vision.
