Richard Armenta is an Associate Professor in Kinesiology with a focus on Health Science/Public Health. He is also the Associate Director of the Center for Training, Research, and Educational Excellence (CTREE).
Dr. Armenta conducts research on health disparities among Hispanic and Native American communities. His primary line of research focuses on substance abuse and infectious disease transmission prevention, mainly focuseing on HIV and STI’s. Dr. Armenta also condcuts research on physical activity and diabetes and obesity prevention among high risk groups. Additionally, Dr. Armenta serves as the Research Director for the California Native American Research Centers for Health Student Development Program, where he mentors Native American students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
