Karina Ramirez Gonzalez, '25

Tyanna Tran Karina is a first-generation student majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Writing and Literature with aspirations of pursuing law school and a JD to practice law in the public interest field. She has been an intern with the JusticeCorps of San Diego for the past two years and has delved into advocacy with groups like the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in their student-focused program, Voces Nuevas, to bring attention to Hispanic Serving Institutions at the local and national levels. On campus, Karina learned about advocacy through her work with Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) as Chair and Chief of Staff and through their volunteer advocacy team, Lobby Corps. advocating for the CSU at the state and local level. She also recently extended her work to UCSD, as part of the inaugural cohort of the WAVES Fellowship. Karina is set to graduate in May of 2025 and hopes to continue into law school the following Fall. Her favorite phrase is "echandole ganas y adelante al exito".
