Writing and Literature with aspirations of pursuing law school and a JD to practice
law in the public interest field. She has been an intern with the JusticeCorps of
San Diego for the past two years and has delved into advocacy with groups like the
Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in their student-focused
program, Voces Nuevas, to bring attention to Hispanic Serving Institutions at the
local and national levels. On campus, Karina learned about advocacy through her work
with Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) as Chair and Chief of Staff and through
their volunteer advocacy team, Lobby Corps. advocating for the CSU at the state and
local level. She also recently extended her work to UCSD, as part of the inaugural
cohort of the WAVES Fellowship. Karina is set to graduate in May of 2025 and hopes
to continue into law school the following Fall. Her favorite phrase is "echandole
ganas y adelante al exito".
