Carol Lazier

A native Northern Californian, Carol Lazier and her family moved to the San Diego area in 1994. In 2009, recognizing how challenging the college selection and application process was for her 3 children, and the importance of access to higher education, Lazier co-founded Solutions: Success Post High School which provides students with effective affordable tools and resources to make the college process focused and less stressful. Lazier鈥檚 calling is to help remove impediments to social mobility. California State University San Marcos鈥檚 leadership in dismantling barriers to educational success is a match.

Lazier has served on many non-profit boards including Escondido YMCA, the San Diego Symphony, and the San Diego Museum of Art and presently serves on the boards of Interfaith Community Services and the San Diego Opera. She is best known for spearheading the effort to rebuild the San Diego Opera which was on the brink of closure in 2014. She was awarded the San Diego Philanthropist of the Year in 2016. California State University San Marcos awarded Carol an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2022.
