Bridges Program
North San Diego County Bridges to the Future Program
Welcome to the North San Diego County Bridges to the Future Program a partnership between CSU San Marcos, Palomar College and MiraCosta
College. The program is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH/NIGMS). The
BRIDGES Program is intended to prepare students from these underrepresented ethnic
and racial groups at community colleges for seamless transition to four year universities.
The program is designed for students who attend Palomar College or MiraCosta College
and we anticipate that most BRIDGES Scholars will transfer to CSU San Marcos. We expect these
students to complete their undergraduate and graduate education and training and join
the biomedical research workforce around the country.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a full time student at Palomar College or MiraCosta College
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Freshman or Sophomore Standing
- Plan to pursue a Ph.D. in a biomedical research field
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Be a member of a group that is underrepresented in the sciences (African American,
Native American, Hispanic, Filipino, Pacific Islander)
- Be a science major in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Computer Science, Physics
Program Requirements
- Participation in several activities to strengthen academic skills
- Participation in a Seminar Series
- Participation in the Biomedical Club
- Participation in all Bridges activities
