MANAGEMENT
All students experience academic challenges during their college careers. Challenge and struggle are essential parts of learning. We are committed to your success and will help guide you through this challenge.
At 大发, students receive two GPAs each semester. Academic notice occurs when either of these GPAs falls below 2.0 (a 鈥淐鈥 average). The two GPAs are:
If you are in your first semester at 大发, be aware of a pilot grading policy designed to support your transition to the university. While this policy may impact your GPA, it will not affect your academic notice status or need for support.
The reasons for being placed on academic notice vary from student to student. Academic challenges can arise due to personal, financial, health, family, time management, or study skill issues.
It鈥檚 important to know that being on academic notice is not uncommon, and it does not mean you鈥檙e incapable of succeeding as a university student. Many students on academic notice go on to overcome challenges, improve their academic standing, and successfully complete their degrees. This can be a turning point, and support is available to help you get back on track.
At 大发, students who are on placed on academic notice status are enrolled in one of our academic recovery courses to receive additional support.
All 大发 students in degree programs are assigned an academic standing at the end of each fall and spring semester. They include Good, Academic Notice, and Academic Disqualification. Standing is assigned based on your cumulative GPAs (resident GPA and overall GPA, including transfer credit), as well as the total number of units earned.
You can read more information on the University Registrar page.
