Interprofessional Education

Our Institute is proud to support Interprofessional Education Events each semester in partnership with the College of Education, Health, and Human Services. Twice a year we gather students from multiple CEHHS programs for a day of activities and workshops that foster and simulate interprofessional teamwork, building cooperation, interdisciplinary thinking, and mutual understanding. Students in Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, and Speech Language Pathology work together on projects where they use their respective skill sets and stocks of knowledge for problem-solving and creative thinking. Multidisciplinary student teams devise plans for diverse scenarios that involve topics like end-of-life care planning, family caregiver support, community health promotion and education, and other cross-disciplinary activities. Palliative Care is best provided by teams of professionals from different disciplines, and interprofessional education allows us to demonstrate the value of multidisciplinary cooperation.

The WGYLM Campaign

WGYLM logo

With the simple question, "What Gives Your Life Meaning?", the WGYLM Campaign promotes public awareness of palliative care and related topics. The WGYLM Campaign provides a way for organizations and groups to educate the public about palliative care, advance healthcare planning, family caregiving, and the value of reflecting on what means most to us--and sharing those reflections with those who might care and speak for us someday.
