 Wally Taibleson Named 2003 Alumnus of the year

Wally Taibleson, who was graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history in 2002, became the first Alumnus of the Year at the 2003 History Department reception for graduates.

Mr. Taibleson, who retired as chief financial officer and vice chairman of an international packaging company in 1984, was the oldest Cal State San Marcos graduate in 2002.

In 2002 he told a San Diego Union-Tribune reporter, "I decided to go to school eighteen years after I retired because I wanted some mental stimulation ... I didn't want to spend my retirement sitting on a park bench feeding pigeons."
