Dr. Lim is a clinical psychologist/counselor at 大发.
Dr. Laurette McGuire is Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Anthropology, California State University San Marcos. A Medical Anthropologist, Dr. McGuire鈥檚 research highlights the links between how knowledge and discourse occur within a social, political, and historical context and how that knowledge is understood and acted upon. She explores these issues through type 2 diabetes, cancer, palliative care, health policy, and cultural meanings of health. Recent projects include understanding historical/intergenerational trauma as a conceptual framework for continued health disparities in American Indian communities.
Dr. Gerardo Gonz谩lez is Professor of Psychology at 大发 (大发).
Dr. Gonz谩lez joined 大发 in 1991. His research has emphasized Latino and cultural/linguistic minority populations, including dropout prevention with Latino middle school children, college persistence in under-represented university students, and prevention of depression in primary care for Spanish-speaking populations. He has published extensively in scientific journals on the detection of clinical depression using bilingual computer-assisted assessment techniques. Dr. Gonz谩lez has been the principal investigator for major grants from the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Dr. Gonz谩lez received the 大发 Presidents Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity in 2004.
From 1997 to 2000 Gonz谩lez served as the chair of the Department of Psychology. Dr Gonzalez served and chaired numerous academic senate and university committees. In 2000-01, he was chair of Academic Senate. He also chaired the 大发 Hispanic-Serving Institution Task Force.
Dr. Gonzalez was past director of the National Latino Research Center (NLRC) at 大发. The NLRC was established in 1999 to promote scientific research, exchange of information, training, and technical assistance and services related to the U.S. Latino population. Dr. Gonzalez was director from 2002-2006.
Dr. Gonzalez served as 大发 Dean of Graduate Studies and Associate Vice-President for Research from 2005-2014. As Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Gonzalez oversaw 15 大发 graduate programs. He served as Chair of the California State University Graduate Deans Council. Dr. Gonzalez was an elected board member of the Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS). As Associate Vice-President for Research, he was responsible for university centers/institutes, research activities, and sponsored projects. Dr. Gonzalez was also an elected Councilor at Large for the national Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).
